Automotive Lock Repair Examples
At Buffalock and Key, I specialize in repairing a wide range of automotive locks. From ignition issues to broken door locks, here are some examples of the work I’ve done to help drivers get back on the road quickly and securely.
2011 Mercedes ML350 EIS Repair
This one is a common problem with Mercedes ignition switches. A car dealer from Virginia called me. He sold a car to a customer a little out of Olean NY. Possibly the warmer weather in VA desguised the problem but once it got to Western NY, the existence of a problem became apparent. The customer was the one to diagnose it. The car wasn't starting reliably, sometimes giving off a code C426. The problem was this loose part in the switch. After fixing the board and putting it back together, everything worked perfect.
Honda Ignition Lock Repair
When an ignition lock becomes stuck, I start by removing the ignition lock cylinder to access the internal components. I then inspect the wafer tumblers for any wear or damage, replacing any that are bent or worn. This restores the lock's smooth operation. Specifically with Honda stuck ignitions locks, often the underlying cause is a worn-out key, so I also provide new keys to prevent further issues. Once the lock is repaired and reassembled, the vehicle is ready to go with a fully functional ignition.
Older GM Ignition Replacement
On many older GM vehicles (which includes Chevrolet, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Pontiac and a few more), replacing the ignition requires removal of the steering wheen. With experience and the right tools, its nothing too bad. Around Buffalo NY, I can come take care of it usually on the same day.

2011 Hyundai Sonata Stuck Ignition Repair
Got a call in the middle of the night for a 2011 Hyundai Sonata with a stuck ignition. First thing I did was decode the existing key and cut a new one to factory specs—more often than not, a worn key is the root of the problem. Over time, the wear can cause wafers to bend, leading to ignition failure.
With a fresh key cut, I was able to get the ignition to turn, which meant I could remove and properly service it for a lasting repair. The whole job took about an hour, and I had it wrapped up before the customer’s shift ended!
